Attendance Rule
At Bengal Institute of Technology & Management, regular attendance is considered a cornerstone of academic success and personal discipline. These rules have been designed to ensure that students maintain consistent engagement with their academic programs while fostering responsibility and professionalism.
General Guidelines
- Minimum Attendance Requirement:
- As per the guidelines of affiliating universities and AICTE norms, students are required to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each subject (theory and practical) to be eligible to appear for final examinations.
- Attendance Monitoring:
- Attendance is recorded daily for each class and regularly reviewed.
- Parents/guardians will be notified periodically about their ward’s attendance status, particularly if it falls below the required threshold.
- Consequence of Low Attendance:
- Students failing to meet the minimum attendance criteria will be barred from appearing in the end-semester examinations.
- Repeat defaulters may face suspension or other disciplinary action as deemed necessary.
Leave Policies
- Authorized Leave:
- Students must apply for leave in advance through a written application or the college’s online portal.
- Leave will be granted for valid reasons such as illness, family emergencies, or participation in college-approved activities like sports, conferences, or cultural events.
- Supporting documents (e.g., medical certificates) must be submitted within three working days of rejoining.
- Unexcused Absence:
- Absence without prior approval or valid justification will be considered unauthorized and may attract penalties.
- Special Cases:
- Students representing the college in official events may be eligible for attendance relaxation, subject to prior approval from the concerned department and Principal.
